Serendipity led me to clay: walking in my neighborhood with my newborn, I came upon Ruby’s Clay Studio in San Francisco back in 2009. It was love at a first sight! About a year later I registered for classes, became a regular member of the community and have never looked back! I love how a lump of clay can be transformed into functional wares, and how the imprint of the creator forges connections between user and maker.

A ‘maker’ from a young age, I am happiest when working with my hands and creating something tangible. Sewing, bookmaking, collage art and floral wreath-making keep my fingers busy and creative juices flowing. My first passion was baking and chocolate work, which led me to running a small baking business during a 10-year stint in India. Fast forward many years and here I am in the SF Bay Area dedicated to centering clay, working on letting go of perfection and practicing patience!

I have recently set up a dedicated “Clay Nook” at home and feel blessed to be able to step away from the demands of parenting and focus on my craft. I also treasure stints working in a local community studio where I glaze and fire my work and connect with fellow makers. Some of my strongest friendships have been forged through a shared love of clay.

I take one day at a time and am grateful for the time I get to hone my skills and improve my craft. Nothing beats holding a freshly-fired vessel, still warm from the kiln, and the sense of awe: "Wow, I made this and I love it!"

There are, of course, many failures along the way too! ;)

Thank you for visiting and supporting my work! I truly appreciate it!
